S52 Review

Written by Millican at 04:26 13/5-2020

Season 52 brought Millican to new highs, reaching a team record for points in a season (689) and reaching division 3 for the first time, which exceeded our goals set at the end of S51! The team had 3 victories and 11 results on the season, led once again by Nate Thurston. Thurston was a force on the Downhill circuit this year, captaining the team in 11 DH races, with 2 victories, 8 results, and 10 top-9 results (one crash ruined the run...). The team was also well represented on the World Cup circuit, with Thurston making an appearance for Australia, Jano Siroky getting his first call up for Slovakia, and emerging talent Abdallah Murekezi representing Rwanda 5 times.

Millican also added a few new faces this year, adding Abdallah Murekezi (Rwanda) and Timoteo Posados (Spain) to the lineup. Both are still in training, with Murekezi slotted for DH guide and possible captainship, while Posados will be the team's windbreaker and LO1/flat road specialist once he completes training.

Plans for Season 53 are to complete training Murekezi and Posados, add a Health Doctor, and identify a new talent for the sprint squad that is slowly being built. Though if a top DH/CL talent comes the team's way we won't say no!

Goals for season 53 are to stick in division 3/4, and win the DH classic Classic Oslo assuming we are in Div 4 at the right time. We'd also like to take part in a few more tours, such as the hometown Kangaroo Tour (literally in Millican's backyard here in Brisbane).

  Congrats, great season! :-)
And good luck for season 53, you don‘t need to perform too good in Classic Oslo if I‘m in there too though ;-)
